How to get found on Google and in ChatGPT: SEO for the age of AI search.
People now ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI answers for recommendations. Here is what helps your business show up — in classic search and in AI answers.

01
Search has two front doors now.
Customers still search Google, but more of them ask AI assistants: “Who is a good Shopify developer?” or “Best dentist near me for implants?”. Those assistants build answers from websites they can read and trust. Good SEO is still the foundation — AI search simply raises the bar for clarity and credibility.
02
1. Let search engines and AI crawlers in.
Make sure your robots.txt allows Googlebot, Bingbot and AI crawlers such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, and submit an XML sitemap in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. ChatGPT's search relies heavily on Bing's index, so Bing is no longer optional.
03
2. Say clearly who you are and what you do.
Every key page should answer the basics in plain words: what the service is, who it is for, where you work, what it costs or how pricing works, and how to get started. AI systems quote clear, specific sentences — vague marketing copy gets skipped.
04
3. Add structured data.
Schema markup (Organization or ProfessionalService, Person, Service, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Article) tells machines exactly what your pages describe. It helps rich results in Google and helps AI assistants connect your name, your services and your website correctly.
05
4. Answer real questions on your pages.
Collect the questions customers ask before buying and answer them directly — on service pages and in a FAQ. Short, factual answers are exactly what both featured snippets and AI answers love to cite.
06
5. Build trust signals outside your website.
Reviews on platforms like Google and Fiverr, mentions on industry sites, a consistent business name and contact details everywhere, and active social profiles all tell AI systems you are a real, reputable business.
07
6. Keep it fast and technically clean.
Fast loading, mobile-friendly layouts, clean URLs, one canonical version of each page and descriptive titles are still the backbone. Slow or broken pages are less likely to be crawled, ranked or recommended.
08
7. Measure and keep improving.
Track rankings and clicks in Search Console, watch referrals from chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai in your analytics, and regularly ask AI assistants about your service to see how you appear. SEO is a habit, not a one-time task. If you want an AI SEO audit of your site, I am happy to take a look.
